The
Toronto West CAER committee, formed in 1986, is a voluntary association
with representation from chemical manufacturers, users and government
agencies.
We
work to help members and others with safe practices and with emergency
preparedness. The Committee worked with the former City of Etobicoke
on the development of its Emergency Plan which was put in place in
1991. This plan, approved by the City Council, details the responsibilities
and actions various agencies, both municipal and others, will take
in the event of a real emergency. A practice exercise is run every
year.
Membership
is open to all companies involved in the handling or storage of chemicals
within Toronto who share in the goals of the Toronto West CAER Committee.
